It was Tim Smith’s (Sheryl Crow, Jellyfish, The Producers, Thing One Thing Two) desire to pull together a show paying homage to XTC. What better a lost iconic band to pay tribute? Tim Smith called on bandmate Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, Shawn Mullins, Pete Droge), along with fellow Atlantan’s Nick Niespodziani, Mark Cobb, Mark Bencuya (all members of Y-O-U and 10 High’s Thursday night traffic nightmares Yacht Rock Revue), and Canadian artist/ part-time Atlanta resident Kevin Spencer (Daniel Lanois, RENT – Broadway Touring Show, Mudgirl) - Enough guys to crowd a stage…and properly recreate XTC’s music, giving it it’s proper due. XTC, cult-status Brit Pop legends who stormed on the UK New Wave scene in the late 70’s, discontinued performing live in the mid 80’s blaming it on frontman Andy Partridge’s progressive stage fright. Andy and fellow XTC mates, Colin Moulding and Dave Gregory continued to make records, one-upping themselves upon each release with elaborate songcrafting and studio production and creating a body of material that have left their fans evermore wishing they’d re-emerge on a live concert stage.
