OM formed in 2003 when former Sleep members Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius began to play together again. They conceived OM as a group of pure and primal energy, using only amplified bass and drums. OM's first three albums featured this line-up with Cisneros on bass/vocals and Hakius on drums. After Hakius departed OM in January 2008, Cisneros recruited drummer/percussionist Emil Amos and they immediately recorded a 7", entitled 'Gebel Barkal', for the legendary Sub Pop label, which was the recording debut of the Cisneros/Amos line-up. OM are currently working on their next album which is to be recorded in early 2009. OM's live performances are ecstatic, devotional, trance-like, immense. Their 2007 concert in the city of Jerusalem spanned over five and a half hours.
